PHP security vulnerability: AI may spread threats around the clock

PHP has exposed a severe security vulnerability. The head of the Hamburg Artificial Intelligence Center says about 70% of websites worldwide are affected. The German Federal Office for Information Security has issued a warning and recommends installing updates. Attackers can use it to steal passwords, redirect users to fake websites to obtain online banking passwords and other transaction data, and websites including those of the Hamburg Artificial Intelligence Center and the University of Hamburg were temporarily offline. Experts say the vulnerability lay hidden in the code for years and was difficult for humans to find, while AI can discover and exploit such vulnerabilities within hours and spread threats around the clock.
