First signs of a cyber disaster? OpenAI project finds major vulnerabilities in PHP and Node.js

OpenAI's Patch the Planet and Daybreak projects used AI to find two major vulnerabilities in PHP, and separately found one independent vulnerability in Node.js; details leaked before fixes. Government websites and the Internet Archive, among others, urgently went offline to patch; critical infrastructure providers had more than two months to address the vulnerabilities before public disclosure, but many sites need weeks to months to update. OpenAI expects similar findings to increase substantially in the coming months.
