South Korean police form a task force to investigate AI-assisted hacking attacks on financial institutions
韩国警方组建专案组调查金融机构入侵
South Korea's National Office of Investigation under the Korean National Police Agency has opened a case into a series of AI-assisted hacking attacks targeting financial institutions and formed a dedicated investigation team led by a senior superintendent with 28 officers. Police are assessing whether the case involves intrusion into electronic financial infrastructure that would require transfer to a major crime investigation body, and have asked the Financial Services Commission for an authoritative interpretation. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency launched an emergency response, expanding monitoring of major corporate websites and sending security self-check recommendation emails to more than 28,000 companies that have appointed chief information security officers.
