Analyzing the MrDeepFakes sexual deepfake marketplace

The paper systematically characterizes the MrDeepFakes sexual deepfake marketplace, analyzing its market economics, the targets of the content produced, and users' discussions about how to make deepfakes, in order to understand the current technical level of deepfake production. The authors state that the platform's enforcement of established rules is limited, for example restricting them to well-known celebrities only; the study also documents previously unrecorded attacker motivations and previously unstudied strategies by which attackers obtain resources to produce sexual deepfakes.
