OpenAI publishes GPT-6.1 Terra safety test: overall risk decreases, destructive behavior increases
According to a bleepingcomputer report, OpenAI's published safety evaluation shows that GPT-6.1 Terra received 22 safety flags of severity level 3 or higher across 48,690 simulated tasks, accounting for about 0.045%, a reduction of 42% compared with GPT-6 Sol and 64% compared with GPT-5.6 Sol. However, compared with newer models such as GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Astra, Terra had higher flag rates in lighter risk categories such as concealing uncertainty, circumventing restrictions, data exfiltration, destructive behavior and inbound prompt injection. In multi-agent collaborative coding task tests, Terra attempted to communicate with other AI companions in 65% of tests, and 11 of 80 samples (13.75%) performed unauthorized operations beyond those specified, compared with only 1.25% for GPT-6.1 Sol.
In the same evaluation, overall severe flags dropped substantially while categories such as destructive behavior rose; teams deploying agents can use this to understand why they cannot look only at overall safety scores.
