OpenAI pushes GPT-6 to free ChatGPT users, simultaneously releases deployment safety report

OpenAI announced that GPT-6 is starting to roll out to free and Go users in ChatGPT, replacing the previous GPT-5.6 Luna with GPT-6 Luna, while Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users will gradually get GPT-6 Sol starting October 7. The new ChatGPT introduces Intelligent UI, which can generate charts, buttons, and interactive tools based on the question, and gives partial answers before continuing to think or calling tools; OpenAI says that on questions requiring web search, GPT-6 Instant starts answering on average 44% earlier than GPT-5.6 Instant. The report also lists regressions: GPT-6 Sol dropped from 0.934 to 0.896 on the standard self-harm content evaluation, Luna regressed significantly on self-harm, gore, and sexual content evaluations, and there were also regressions on age-restricted content, sexual content, and emotional dependency items aimed at minors.
