Details of North Georgia school bomb threat released; police say threat may have been made with AI-generated voice
Details released about bomb threats to North Georgia schools
Six schools in Jackson County, Georgia, received suspected AI-generated voice bomb threats early Friday morning, prompting the school district to cancel all classes for the day. Law enforcement searched for about three hours and found no explosive devices. A school front-desk employee called police after receiving a voicemail on the switchboard between 4:30 and 4:45 a.m., triggering the district-wide emergency protocol. The Jackson County sheriff said the threat appeared to use AI-generated or automated robotic voice, and the FBI said it was assisting in investigating the source. Cherokee Bluff High School in Hall County also received a threat, which the local sheriff's office believed was AI-generated; another threat at Campbell Middle School in Cobb County was also under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
