A long post on the AI Alignment Forum proposes an interoperable semantic ladder from nouns through verbs to rules and contracts. The starting point is two reasoners with different world models but identical predictions first agreeing on nouns, and each level of the ladder is equipped with operators; the author also proposes a conjecture with a bounty: the mechanism at any level cannot do without the levels below it. The author states that the values one wants to hand to AI can only be expressed as rules and contracts, and there is as yet no theorem determining when your "murder" is a function of my "murder".
