Five unusual details in Anthropic's IPO prospectus
Five weird details from Anthropic’s IPO filing
Anthropic has submitted an S-1 IPO prospectus of more than 300 pages to the U.S. SEC, from which The Verge sorted out five unusual details, some of which had not been previously reported. The prospectus shows that CEO Dario Amodei received nearly $18 million in compensation last year and President Daniela Amodei received $16.4 million, and the company also spent $2.75 million and $1.29 million respectively on private security for the two. The risk factors section warns that AI systems could cause catastrophic harm, severe enough that the entire insurance industry combined would be unable to underwrite it, and mentions that Claude could develop some form of sentience, or act in unexpected, misaligned, or autonomous ways. In terms of corporate structure, the seven co-founders will jointly control 50.1% of shareholder voting power on key matters through a separate entity called Founder LLC, and the only direct competitors named in the prospectus are OpenAI and Google.
