Meta open-sources the 816B-parameter model Muse Spark Open, which can run on two Mac Studio machines

Meta open-sourced the open-weight model Muse Spark Open with 816B parameters, using a MoE architecture with 42B activated parameters, supporting a 1 million token context and native multimodal text, image, video, and audio. The company calls it the most powerful open-weight model in the U.S. to date. The model can run on two Mac Studio machines equipped with M5 Ultra, each with 512GB of unified memory for a combined 1TB, and a four-Mac Studio cluster generates more than 36 tokens per second. Weights can be downloaded from Hugging Face and are available through AWS SageMaker, Google Cloud, Microsoft Foundry, and platforms such as Baseten, Fireworks, Groq, Modal, Nebius, OpenRouter, and Together AI. According to Axios, Meta and Apple collaborated to run the model on Mac.
