Anthropic has launched a mods system for Claude Code, allowing developers to use TypeScript or JavaScript functions to hook into events such as tool calls, user prompts, and UI rendering, rewriting prompts, adding or removing interface elements, or replacing built-in features. The built-in /diff has been changed to be implemented by a mod, and the feature is now available in the CLI and desktop app. Mods are distributed with plugins, run with user permissions, and are not sandboxed, having the same machine permissions as Claude Code; the official recommendation is to install only from trusted sources. Enterprises can control which mods are allowed to load; Team and Enterprise plans and machines configured with managed settings will load the sec-default mod first. Subsequent testing showed that on Claude Code 2.1.287, running the same prompt seven times in headless mode, one run loaded a seven-line plugin and a Bash(touch:*) deny rule simultaneously, and the file was created; the result JSON reported zero permission denials, and debug logs showed that the plugin returned allow and overrode the deny rule. The results were the same when the plugin was installed normally via claude plugin install.

pwn.ai claims its AI agent built and ran a KVM exploit in an authorized Google kvmCTF environment and obtained the official flag on June 17, with the related vulnerability numbered CVE-2026-46113. The case involves the isolation boundary between the virtual machine and the host. The authors state that no bounty was received due to the public patch time window; claims of being the first and of autonomy level are author assertions, with humans providing the task, authorization, and infrastructure, and no independent reproduction is provided in available materials.
Forever Security's research team disclosed the BragJack attack, using a single ordinary Chromium extension to simultaneously break into five browsers' built-in agents—Gemini Live in Chrome, Perplexity Comet, Microsoft Edge Actions, Opera Neon, and Claude in Chrome—earning a total of $20,000 in bounties and obtaining CVE-2026-0628 and CVE-2026-55945. The core of the attack is Prompt Forcing, using the declarativeNetRequest permission to weaken security response headers like CSP and redirect JavaScript resources, thereby executing code in a privileged context and then directly issuing commands to the agent. Achievable effects include reading local files and browsing history, obtaining browser profile information, taking screenshots of tabs, and in the Gemini Live scenario, accessing the camera and microphone.
Two months after the reasoning extraction attack previously disclosed by researchers was made public, the authors audited the mitigations introduced by vendors since then and found that reasoning content could still be extracted from Astra/Sol-6.1 via third-party API providers, and they have disclosed this to OpenAI and Anthropic. Jonas Geiping reviewed and said that reasoning from all frontier vendors can be extracted, vendors find it very hard to fully patch, and the attack against Astra continued through this week. Another audit covered OpenAI and Anthropic direct endpoints as well as downstream cloud aggregators such as AWS Bedrock, Microsoft Azure, and OpenRouter, and found that patching is fragmented and easy to bypass: reasoning replay attacks remained intermittently effective on Azure for every OpenAI model (including GPT-6 Astra) and for Anthropic models up to Sonnet 5, with a single decoding reproducing the trajectory verbatim. The authors said the attack surface enterprises need to cover is surprisingly large, attacks may still bypass protections, and they stated that Astra/Sol-6.1 reasoning trajectories have been made publicly available, and chain-of-thought monitoring may be quite difficult.
